Are we getting married? Sure! One of these days.
When? Who cares!
It’s been a rough year for everyone, and we figured that we could all use a vacation, and what better excuse than a bachelorette party! We’re hopeful that by the summer of 2022 travel will be back on the table, and so we would like to invite you to join us for
Yellowstone Bachelorette Weekend
July 2022

July 15 – 18, 2022
As some of you may know, Yellowstone is Ben’s absolute favorite place on earth, and we have had the opportunity to visit the park several times together since we started dating in 2015. We’d like to invite you to come join us for a long weekend in the park in July 2022. We’ll go hiking, explore thermal basins, drink beer around campfires, look for wildlife, and do all sorts of other fun things in the world’s first National Park*.
Yellowstone gets very busy in the summers, and 2022 is expected to be especially crowded because it’s the park’s 150th birthday. Luckily, 90% of visitors never go more than a mile from their cars, so that means there will still be plenty of room for us to explore. It does mean that lodging reservations need to be made early, though, which is why we wanted to get the word out now.
There are more details under the logistics tab, but the two main points are this:
We want everyone to be comfortable for the weekend, so we’ll stay in a part of the park that has two options for sleeping: car-accessible campsites and hotel rooms. Car camping in Yellowstone is very easy and still pretty cheap, so if you feel at home in a tent this is a good option. If you’re more of an indoor cat and would like four walls and a private bathroom, there are also hotel rooms and cabins which are more expensive but very nice. We encourage you to select the option that makes sense for your level of comfort in the outdoors and budget.
For either choice, the park starts taking reservations for Summer 2022 early this June, and both campsites and hotel rooms can fill up quickly (like 24-48 hours quickly). Xanterra, the company that runs all the lodging options in the park, is a sleazebag of an operation** but they do allow you to cancel reservations for a full refund and no penalty until a month before your stay. The upshot is that if you think you’ll want to join us but aren’t sure if you’ll have the time, budget, or inclination over a year from now, or if you’re worried about COVID, you should still make a reservation this June to secure a spot, knowing you’ll have 12 months of no-risk cancellation if you decide not to come.
We hope you’ll be able to join us! We love the park, we love each other, and we love you, so we’re sure it’ll be a really fantastic weekend.
*There is some academic disagreement over the extent to which this is true and Ben promises not to bore you with any of the details unless you ask.
**That Ben used to work for! He has a lot of fun factoids about the history of public accommodations in the park.
